Eoly: enabling strategic B2B energy purchase
Sustainability is one of the main pillars of Colruyt Group. With their project Eoly, Colruyt Group wanted to facilitate the purchase of green energy for large companies. That is why Cubitec built a powerful calculation engine for them, which makes it possible to compare large-scale energy purchases. This enables these enterprise companies to make well-informed strategic decisions around the purchase of energy.
Colruyt Group
The Colruyt family started their wholesale business in 1928. Today, Colruyt Group has grown into one of the largest Belgian companies into a multinational that is also involved in technology and automation, with a major focus on sustainability. Eoly is an important part of this, offering green energy to companies.
The problem
The energy market can best be compared to the stock market, a variable environment where supply and demand are subject to constant changes. As a company you can purchase energy on a large scale, in a way that is both economical and sustainable. But because the market is so changeable, a powerful calculation engine is needed to constantly compare all that data with each other in order to provide the energy buyer with the best insights.
The solution
At the request of Colruyt Group, Cubitec built this middleware, or calculation engine, that constantly monitors the energy market and collects and clearly bundles data from dozens of places. In this way, energy buyers can carry out these large-scale purchases strategically. Thanks to the launch of this middleware for Eoly, it is now possible to collect real-time energy data and offer smart insights to energy buyers of companies.
